He nodded, "It is a terrible waste. But take heart. I am currently working on agreements with important players in the Outer Rim. I have confidence that we will be able to cooperate and end this needless atrophy that has caused so much damage to your people. Zygerria was one of the first systems struck by the plague. When I arrived the system was in complete disarray. But we have moved to secure what we can, and as supplies arrive we will press back against the tide and take back all that we have lost. I intend to do this for all of the Outer Rim. And if I have your support, then I will make sure that your people have what they will need to get back on their feet."

“We have to stand together, the Emperor will see the wisdom in your words, he is eternal and he protects,” she says.

"Indeed. I'm sure it will go well; for if the Emperor wills it, then it will be accomplished. Will you voice your opinion on the matter to the council as well?"

“it isn’t as strong as your voice but I am behind you, my Lord,” she responded.

He smiled warmly, "Excellent."

He then bowed apologetically, "Ooh.. I have been remiss. I have not asked you your name... you spoke of your house but I missed the pleasure of hearing your name."

"Unda Nuwazi, but Lady Nuwazi is fine my Lord," she said respectfully.

"Lady Nuwazi, a pleasure." He bowed politely.

"If you have time tomorrow I'd like to invite you to my wedding. We have a few spots we have reserved for people who we might have missed with the invitations. It would be a pleasure to have you."

“I am honored, send along the details to my people and I will make arrangements to attend. You are far too generous my lord but I will gladly take advantage of your hospitality and good will,” she said politely.

He shook his head, "The pleasure is ours. Weddings help remind us of the future of the Empire that we make for our descendants. The more people there are who are invested in that endeavor, the better."

He smiled warmly. "And we shall have to have you over and discuss the condition of your systems sometime soon to see where we can best lend a hand in the days ahead."

“We should, until tomorrow my Lord,” she moved on to speak with some military officers.

He nodded slowly and watched her depart.

Rath rolled his eyes at some of the arguments and looked around to see if his Master had bothered to show up for this. He'd argued for the Military on Vengean's behalf, but was genuinely surprised to hear Serasi and some of the others push for the Outer Rim. And that none thought the Core Worlds important.

Well, if the Outer Rim was going to receive those supplies, as now seemed likely, there must be a way to salvage some sort of advantage.

Mingling as she was, it was hard not to be drawn into the gravity of the large mass that was Jo'ren.

"Such a scowl on your face," she smirked as she looked at him, though she had an idea why.

Vengean was hard to read because he had that angry neutral look but the way his eyes narrowed and the cybernetics flexed as he listened to the words of people gutting the military forces… his forces, he became more visibly irate.

Coming back from his speech, the Arkanian sits down next to Maral and looks over at everyone. From what he understood of public speaking, he didn't think he failed in this venture. Which was good, because there was a lot of tension going around here. Any unwanted attention brought to him would only hinder his research.

He could only take a small moment to take a deep sigh of relief before regaining his composure and calm, hopefully to no one's notice.

Especially his apprentice.

Lord Rath was not amused. "It ain't going away. Outer Rim needs a cure for the plague, not the supplies that'll keep our forces at top strength." He gestured vaguely at the others who had spoken. "Abasi gets it. Nyx too. The rest of you..." He clenched his jaw, muscles bulging.

"Mmm," she cast a casual glance to the ones he gestured to, and took a seat next to him, her posture relaxed but the smugness gone now to keep the serious tone of Jo'ren's concerns.

"And how will we keep the armies fed, supplied, and in tip-top shape when our main producers of those resources are incapable of functioning?"

"By protecting those producers from Piracy with our military. By striking the enemy and taking their resources. I say again: giving the supplies to the Outer Rim doesn't cure this plague, it just weakens our forces." He seethed a little inside. "Where's a cure going to come from anyway? A military research lab."

Dayana Valthren wrote:"Not exactly. I want you to be truthful," Dayana replied. She folded her fingers on her lap and smiled. "It is not my place to direct you. I simply wanted to nudge you in the right direction."

"Hmmm..." Lucinia thoughtfully tapped her chin with one finger. "Well, if you should require my support, I shall consider the matter. We shall see..."

"There is more to plague than just the cure, my lord," Hala said, detaching herself from her watch to join the growing knot of supplicants.

"Quarantine, to keep those who are not yet sick from contracting the illness. Treatment of symptoms to keep those lightly afflicted functional, and those heavily afflicted alive. We can either get a short term gain from seizing supplies from outside the Empire, or a longer term gain by ensuring that our internal strength is stable and can flourish. Sending supplies to the Rim does not necessarily rob the military, but it does ensure that my brethren stationed on the Rim are well provisioned for the crises that they face. Is that not so?"
