Thus far the best products of the uplift program on Ziost these hybrids were created through gene editing and cybernetic enhancement of the second generation. The third generation came to be when it was advised to splice in features from [redacted] species to further enhance intellect and cunning. This new hybrid species has the size of Massassi but the intellect of more civilized species, though some reports it may actually exceed human baselines but that has been dismissed by Imperial command because surely [redacted] species could not be of better stock than those species descended from the Dark Jedi of old.

They lack the red skin of the original species a more dull red to black and grays and seem to grow prodigious horns in lieu of the hardened tentacles and ridges of the massassi species. Testing is underway to see if th new species can successfully breed with the massassi and the outcome of such a union.
