Tournament of the BoundEvent Type: Social Event
Influence Cost: 5
Participants: Unlimited
Timeslots: Early Evening to Mid Evening
Description: Lord Gratahan is throwing party for his new wife and has decided on a theme of the Tournament of the Bound, this is where people bring slave artisans and entertainers and then have them battle to the death for the enjoyment of the guests. It is brutal, cruel, and quite popular among the Sith who see slaves as the lowest form of thinking being, too weak to free themselves and only fit for slaughter.
Early Evening is a pure social hour of being seen and enjoying the amenities of Lord Grathan, he has provided shuttles to and from Dromund Kaas they leave in Early Afternoon and arrive at Early Evening and a second set of shuttles that leave Late Evening and arriving at Early Night on Ziost.
Rules: First the player should purchase a slave for this party or not. Some Sith see this as barbaric and make a statement by not bringing a slave this tends to fall on deaf ears but can be quite bold and make a statement.
Step 1 – Participate or NotIf the player chooses to participate they need to find a suitable slave, for the spirit of the tournament they should find a non-combat slave that will entertain and amaze the guests. The Influence cost of the event covers this step even if they choose not to get a slave, players are not, despite their social position, considered slaves for this event.
This is Barbaric: The player chooses to make a statement, make a Charm, Deception, or Leadership check versus Easy to earn 5 Influence. They can increase that difficulty to Hard (1 red and 2 purple) if they choose to make a real statement and earn 10 Influence if they succeed or they can opt to increase that difficulty to Daunting (2 red and 2 purple) if they so chose and earn 15 Influence if successful. They are done and need not participate in the rest of the event.
A Proper Choice: The player makes an Education or Perception check at Average, failure means they have made a poor choice and the Contestant has An ability score of 1 in Brawn and 1 in Presence. Success means they have a Contestant with an ability score of 2 in Brawn and 2 in Presence. Each Advantage can be spent to purchase one of three skills for the Contestant, Battle (Brawn), Amaze (Presence), and Perform (Presence). Triumph grants an Additional Ability point and a Despair reduces an Ability by 1, to a minimum of 1 if Ability are at 1 then reduce Wounds by 1. Threat reduces the starting wounds of the Contestant by 1 per Threat to a minimum of 1; all Contestants begin with 5 wounds.
Example: With that roll he has a Contestant with Brawn 2, Presence 2 and decides to purchase Amaze 1, and starts with 5 Wounds.
Darth Joey Joe Joe Perception - A Proper Choice:
2eP+1eA+2eD 2 successes, 1 advantageStep 2Are you not Entertained: The Contestant, not the player, must perform for the guests; they must make a Perform check at Simple and will earn 5 Influence. Instead they can make a Perform check at Average to earn 10 Influence and suffer a wound, or if they feel very bold they can have the Contestant make a Hard Perform check for 15 Influence and suffer 2 wounds.
The Big Finish: The Contestant makes an Average with a setback, nobility and Sith are hard to please, Amaze check and if successful earns an additional 5 Influence as they cap off their performance or work with a big flourish for the guests.
Step 3Smash Brothers: The Contestant is forced to fight for their life, they must survive 3 rounds of battle to earn 5 Influence. Each round the Contestant makes an Average Battle check, if they win they reduce their Wounds by 1, if they lose they reduce it by 2. If the Contestant is reduced to 0 or less wounds before the end of their third round they lose and earn nothing. Meaning they need at least 1 wound at the end of Round 3 to be considered a winner.
Rewards/Outcome: Influence can be earned up to a Maximum of 20 Influence.
