OOC: Not near my books so may be a second on Improved Researcher but you have the stats for your sidekick so you can roll for them.

Mahr did not trust black boxes. Part of him was agreeing with his fellow massassi.

With a sigh he entered the room where they were doing odd things with a package under his arm

The device is beyond repair but the components are all standard Imperial components reserved for military or Intelligence use. Whoever used it, has access to contraband or letimitae access to Imperial equipment. She can identify that it was assigned to the Imperial Camp in Ajunta to Bex squad.

"Good. I'll install it soon." She nodded to Mahr, then looked at Razzya. "What was its basic purpose? If it had lured in a monolith, it could have been either on purpose or by accident. But the latter is less likely if the equipment is standard, unless this was a feature rather than a bug."

The massassi woman said, "Intended purpose is to use for signal jamming, but a simple modification can make it a lure. Obviously that is what was done. Obvious when you look at it."

“The intent was to see why it was setup, but yes,” she said in agreement.

“It is not the first time we of the Third generation have suspected interference in our uplifting.”

"Previously, who has wanted the failure of your uplift?"

“We do not know, could be any number of political entities that fear that our increased intellect will tip the balance of power towards our species in some edge cases. We are enhanced massassi, all of the strengths of our offshoot species with none of the drawbacks bred into us over a millennia by the ancient sith,” she responded.
