[D2, LA] A burden or a blessing? (Rath Tower)

After cutting down some terrorists Jo'ren and Ashley returned to Rath Tower. Darth Vengean had instructed him to expect the arrival of his new Apprentice in the late afternoon. Rath had mixed feelings about this, but it wasn't as if he had a choice in the matter.
With any luck this new Sith would at least be competent in something, anything. He flicked through media coverage of the Eagle's attacks as he waited.

The first thing is the man, and it is a man is large nearly as tall and muscular as Jo’ren. Handsome features with a reserved demeanor as he entered. He identified himself, “Lord Rath, I am Draahg, apprentice to Darth Vengean. I believe you were expecting me.”
He wore dark robes and had a single lightsaber on his hip.

Jo'ren sized him up then nodded. "Yeah, I've been waiting Draahg." He thumbed over his shoulder.
"Why don't you come in and tell me about yourself. If we're going to be working together I want to know who you are."

“Of course my Lord, I do not come from a storied lineage and was born on a colony world as gutter trash. I was discovered by Public security and sent to Dromund Kaas for training, I excelled in combat and upon graduation I languished with various lesser masters until Darth Vengean saw potential in me,” he said walking in and then taking up a relaxed stance in the chamber.
The official holonet had no news about the Eagle, everything was just fine on New Adasta.

Of course, Imperial Intelligence would be ensuring that the citizens knew as little as possible. He nodded, the story was familiar enough.
"What style are you trained in Draahg? Any particular gift with the force?"
The human certainly looked like he had potential.

Jo'ren indicated for Draahg to remain where he was as he considered the questions. Finding Ashley in the command centre he told her to find out anything she could about this Draahg but to keep it as quiet as possible.
Returning to the room he waved for him to continue. "So, tell me about your fighting style."

Draahg replied, “I am familiar with all common forms of Lightsaber combat, I felt it was essential to familiarize myself with them but I prefer Ataru. I will improve my skill in your service.”
“My talents in the Force are satisfactory, not so great as the more venerated heroes that serve Darth Vengean,” he said quietly.

Jo'ren rose again. "Ataru. Flashy but deadly. It's effective, as long as you finish the fight quickly. I've got fully equipped training rooms in here. How's about you show me what you can do and we'll take it from there?"

"As you command Lord Rath," he said with a nod.

He led the new apprentice through to a turbo lift and up ten floors to one of the training rooms. In addition to a fully equipped gym there were a few old training dummies, a holo-system, and some powered down droids.
"I expect you to stay in top shape Draahg. Never know when a mission might arrive." He took a closer look at the human's equipment. Was that concealed armour, or just robes? "Tell me about your lightsaber."

Crafted on Dromund Kaas, the pieces were carefully selected and machined to fit perfectly. I opted for a style that was simple, classic, my Lord. I opted for balance and accuracy, it is a weapon that will one day have no rival when wielded with my hands,” he said calmly and softly.

"Looks nice. Very poetic. Mine's made of scrap I salvaged from a junk pile." He shrugged. "Darth Vengean'll like the attitude. Just watch you don't lose the hands."
Focusing inwards he communed with force, allowing it to guide his movements (Committing to Sense, Defense). "A lightsaber's only one tool in your arsenal, what else can you do?"

Draahg nodded, and said, “A Sith seeks the weakness of his enemies and exploits them. I know no mercy, and the will of my master supersedes my own. I can kill silently; I do not gloat or waste my time. I have much to learn, but I am skilled in the methods to defeat our enemies.”

Jo'ren gave him a serious look and eventually nodded. "Then you truly have potential. Let me see your skill with that lightsaber." He gestured towards the training area, drawing his own weapon.
(OOC: A little swol sparring?)

The leg sweep was a nice touch and Jo'ren had to stretch himself a little to regain the upper hand. Fortunately his defense had been superior and Draahg was in the wrong place - the receiving end of Rath's double-bladed saber.
Fortunately for Draahg the attacks were merely on target rather than overwhelming.

The second lightsaber was a nice trick if you could land a strike. Jo'ren's force-enhanced senses allowed him to evade the attack.
His follow-up was all raw strength and no finesse, allowing Draahg to salvage something from what was still a brutal strike.
