Jan stands aside to let some emergency personnel run past towards the shooting and explosions in the distance. Oh how terrible all this was, it seemed quite the attack.
"Watch out! I saw a Bothan man with some kind of heavy weapon firing from the rooftops!"
You had to be careful these days, all sorts of murderers for hire out there.
As she rounds a corner on the main street, rifle hanging nonchalantly off her shoulder she spots eight heavily armed police heading right towards her. Oh dear oh dear....need an excuse...need some kind of good excuse....

Rex had his bag full of goods, most of them useless foodstuffs or knicknacks. He had to keep watching over his shoulder to make sure that he wasn't being followed, and was having some problems watching in front of him instead. So as he popped out from an alley, he nearly slammed into Jan.
"Woah there!" he bellowed. "Sorry for slamming into you miss!" Nearly bowling her over, it gave her a chance to drop her gun or hide it as the police came up.

It's quite amazing just how much of an anti-material rifle you can hide with a few seconds of cover and a body length of material. Jan 'falls' to the ground, positioning Rax between herself and the police."Oh no, I tripped and am now unhappy with you for your clumsiness, you are very clumsy. Here I was, walking along normally as a good citizen, when you ran into me, that is what happened and is happening now. This is an everyday occurrence."
She wiggles her eyebrows at the Cathar. As the police continue walking by....several of them looking bemused.

Rax wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but seeing her hiding the gun as she folded it up a bit he decided to play along. "Oh I'm sorry miss, " he said in an obsequious tone, playing the subservient alien to a good and rightful Empire citizen. "Please forgive this clumsy Cathar, he should not be in the same street as a good citizen like you.." Though he had to admit her "script" needed a lot of work to avoid being anything other than obvious, he tried to let his whining tone cover for much of the flatness.
"Testing out the merchandise?" he said in a low tone as they picked things up on the sidewalk.

"Oh yes indeed Rax, it's been a wonderful day out on the town where nobody got shot at all, absolutely nobody."
She beams at him, playing the slightly condescending but ditzy civilian"Although I think we had drinks earlier for the past....3 hours? We were drinking together and doing nothing else, nothing suspicious, just two law abiding people drinking."

Rax nodded. "Indeed... The last few hours," he replied as they both stood up. "In fact, I feel like we need to get back to that, don't you? It's been a good break to get food and supplies." He waved his free hand, giving her a smile, looking around to see if anyone was paying attention to them or otherwise.

"Yes, let's walk"
There's an explosion in the distance and Jan points in the opposite direction"That way....where we were always going. It is one of my favourite directions....and we should hurry back but not be seen to be hurrying....because it's nothing really urgent or strange at all."

Rax was actually kind of enjoying this, seeing how... deliberate Jan seemed to be. He certainly didn't want to be near the explosions either, and hope that well... they didn't take out too many civilians. "It's a fine day to be out on the city promenades, just ignoring anything terrible that could happen."

"Exactly! We would just be getting in peoples' way if we went where anything terrible might happen, not that it has or is going to.....
Although on an unrelated subject dinner is on me, some credits have come through."
The rep keeps her face most neutral."Are you doing okay for money, dear?"

Rax nodded, the prospect of free dinner wasn't a bad one, since the day had gone well. "That would be excellent," he replied. "A dinner away from here would be a good idea, the downtown is so bustling."
As to the question of credits he shrugged. "I have gotten word that a relative may be leaving me some soon."

“Oh you poor thing. Seems a lot of that going around recently. My uncle Viktor just passed away for the 4th time. Although of course it’s not about the money.”
She beams at him.“Now where were you thinking? Somewhere nice and fancy uptown? Or maybe some foreign cuisine away from all the....top of town people? It’s almost impossible to get good non-human food around here, but there might be some good places. “

"It is fine. They were old," he says with a chuckle and a flick of his ears. "But yes, let us find any place. Downtown is so busy, it would be a curse to find anything good. You are more familiar with this city, do you think you know a good, quiet place?"

"There was a little place off 46th street that catered to....different clients, that might be a good destination. Although the security forces don't really go there, so clearly we will need to be careful, so much less dangerous without them around."
