[Day 2 - EM to MM] Field Maneuvers - Following Orders

Description: The Massassi trainees are doing maneuvers in the field and Bex has to keep them on task, a task easier said than done. Especially since of the squads decided they wanted to hunt big game and now are way off grid… does Bex follow orders and stay on task or do they break off and track down this wayward group and defy orders?

Rules: Players will need to decide if they are following orders or going after the Massassi squad that is off the grid. This is defined as Following Orders or Defying Orders; each has a separate track.

There are two threads one should be labeled Following Orders and the other Defying Orders. Post in the appropriate thread. Players need to accrue 15 Follow Order points to complete the mission or 20 Defying Orders to rescue the Massassi squad; it may be possible to complete both tasks.

Following Orders

Each of the Following rolls takes a time slot and the player can only make two rolls, but can only choose an option once. Every two advantage grants the next roll a boost die and every two threat grants the next roll a setback die. Triumph adds 1 point and Despair subtracts a point.

Staying on Course: The player makes a Perception or Survival check at Average with two setback due to white out conditions and cold weather.

Military Discipline: The player makes a Hard Leadership or Education check to keep the Massassi in line and on task.

Wild Life Management: The player can make a combat check at Hard or a Xenology check at Average to ward off the wild life.

Walk it Off: The player can make a Discipline or Medicine check at Average to treat injury or help the squad push through minor injuries.

Your are Here: The player can make a Core Worlds or Survival check to make sure they are going in the right direction.

This mission takes about four hours to complete. Meaning they are done after Mid Morning.

Sylvain heard of the early morning exercise and made his way to the area with Nasari. He felt it'd be a good exercise for her as well as the Massassi, who he had spent considerable time with when he was still Baras' apprentice. He was impressed with their development and responsiveness to his commands. The gathered themselves into rows at his command and pressed on through the difficult weather and terrain. His thermal cloak kept him relatively warm and sharp as they trudged on with perseverance throughout the day.

Tyr was happy to give up his morning workout for field maneuvers instead. It was a good way to start the morning. Between his thermal cloak and dense fur, the cold weather felt brisk and invigorating. Lightsaber in hand, he plied it to good effect, snicker-snacking through the hostile wildlife that dared to wander too close, eyes glinting and chuckling softly to himself as he went.

He greeted Sylvain with a nod and grunt, approving of the man's leadership and discipline in keeping the group in line and on track. It was clearly superior to Tyr's bullying efforts as he body checked the cold and weary who slowed down too much, or began to drift off course.

He was tired. The events of the previous night, and the punishment of orders being changed to the morning, it all added up.

Yet he was protected from the cold by the Thermal Cloak, and the scanner goggles installed in his visor helped cut the garbage of the whiteout conditions. He was able to keep the troopers and remaining massassi on track.

His shot, however, at scaring off the wildlife, went wide.

"Keep going boss, only 3 hours left in the field exercise," chirped Warrant Officer Jutrian over Hala's comlink. She had had a full night's sleep, and didn't need to catch a nap on the dropship to the AO.

"Copy Jutrian," responded the colonel, "What are these reptiles shadowing us?"

"Hold one....," came the reply with the faint sound of tapping and a spoon in a mug of caff. Oh, how she wanted a nice warm mug of caff right now, "Icetrompers. Not apex predators, but could be a threat. You'd be interested to know that their aural bones have a harmonic resonance at 86Hz."

Hala smiled, carefully tuning her emitters to the specified frequency. The next time the trompers appeared through the bank of snow, she stepped to the edge of the column and hummed softly into the receiver, allowing feedback and random vocal warbling to do the rest. As the verbal assault reached the suggested frequency, the trompers suddenly yelped in pain and loped away quickly.

Taking her turn to cycle from the edge, she dropped back towards the edge of the pack. For those who were starting to lag behind, she took up a cadence chant to help keep pace.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington regrets heading out to the cantina for a drink last night which ended up in a bar brawl. He is already fairly sleepy and now he is out doing training maneuvers. The Massassi running off on their own did not improve his mood.

He is thankful that he has his goggles and spacesuit otherwise wise the cold and white out visibility would be a serious pain. Thankfully he has no trouble navigating. He later on thinks that he should look into getting a thermal cloak or something as the spacesuit proves to be a bit clumsy in winter conditions and he cannot kill any stray animals that threaten the maneuver. He does at least chase some of them off.

Mahr did not want to let the wayward Massassi get lost but the Queen's wishes had to be done. Order *would* be followed but not for the mewling nobles and petty Siths. The Bex men were allright by his standards...they probably could do well with the Massassis.

The beast were strong hunters and now their youngling had grown into maturity, reaching the size of horses: this was their third hunt already and they had proven themselves against the most dangerous prey in the wilds. They were apex predators and the paltry bipeds approaching their lair would be a fine diner.

If this was a nature documentary, these things would have been explaind to the public by the deep voice of a narrator to invoke sympathy before a fate most foul.

This fate would have been Mahr's axe.

The monstruous massassi was left unphased by these beasts and this environement. He had seen and been through worst.

Dayana stifled a yawn and continued along with the march. She demanded ruthless efficiency, uncaring for any sort of abrasions suffered from the march. It seemed though that her disdain for the massassi after their little escapade left her a less-than-effective leader.

Jo'ren was in two minds about this. While he generally regarded the Massassi as his brothers he wasn't above letting them learn harsh lessons. Besides, they had given the squad a good roughing up last night so it seemed appropriate to show some leadership and get them over the finish line.

Ashley worked her magic, pointing out the weak spots and vulnerabilities of the monitors. After wiping out a large gathering of them he wondered if their carcasses would be acceptable fodder for the Star Forge.

Afterwards it was simply a case of instilling discipline and persuading the troops that finishing was in their best interests. Eventually their sorry asses were marched back on time.

The massassi follow order and working alongside Bex gives them a sense of better unit cohesion and understanding that even if it is not their way, doing what they are told for the larger picture is important.

Remmington walks over to Jo'ren. "Well not much of a party this time since a fight didn't break out." He says with a chuckle.

[Lord Jo'ren Rath]

"Heh. Well if a party had broken out during field maneuvers I'd be worried about this unit. Seems they're good enough, with a bit of outside help." He nodded to his old friend. "How's your head?"

[Mahr]

Tyr recognised a number of the "consultants" from the brawl the previous night. Standing near Mahr, "nice axe," he grunted.

Tyr nodded, “it’s served me well,” there were numerous scars on the plates where the armour had been damaged and repaired repeatedly. “It’s a worthy gift, you wield it well.”

Mahr nods before extending a hand ''I AM MAHR''

Tyr shook the extended hand, his grip firm, but not challenging, "Tyr, apprentice to Darth Malgus." After a moment, he added, "I haven't used an axe much."

''YOU A SITH HUH? YOU DON'T LOOK WEAK LIKE MOST OTHERS.'' Mahr then flipped the axe in his hand before presenting it to Tyr

Tyr hefted the axe in his meaty fist. The shistavanen was between Mahr and Jo'ren in height, but not quite as bulky; he did look like he knew his way around an axe. "Ah, good, it's well balanced," he nodded and swung the axe fluidly, "the lightsaber is almost too easy to use, sliding through flesh and bone almost as easily as it cuts through the air."
