[Day 5 - LA] Monolithic

Bex Company under Ensign’s Pierce has organized a hunt for a monolith recently sighted in the region. Possibly the same one responsible for killing some of the hybrid massassi, they will need to track it to find it and hopefully bring it down.
Pierce is leading a team of his squad and massassi but feels the situation is dangerous enough that pulling in irregulars that want to do their part might be needed. The air is crisp and cold as the group begins their search in a series of deep ravines lined with snow covered evergreen trees home to leather winged raptors, called killsnitches.
OOC: Open to five characters, this could be a very deadly combat thread.

Remmington finds himself out on the icy wastes once again. He is grateful that he has his spacesuit and scanner goggles for missions like this. He idly wonders what brings him out all the way here again when he could just be enjoying his vacation on the beach instead. He offers polite greetings to Ensign Pierce and whoever else may be around.
"So what exactly is this thing we are hunting?" He asks.

Mahr's axe was sharp and his mind wary. He knew someone might try to sabotage the hunt but hoped the short notice would leave them exposed or inept.

Tyr liked the massassi, they seemed far more straight forward than their so-called pureblood counterparts. His thermal cloak flapped lightly around his ankles, ears and nose flicking alertly, watching, listening, smelling his surroundings. Already, adrenaline was filling his system, making him feel stronger, bigger, more powerful, more awake than he'd felt since arriving on Ziost.

Xyll had been intending to get out of the city and into the ice-strewn wastes of Ziost for a different purpose. When a call went out for assistance with some sort of creature, however, she decided it might be worth her while to divert and assist. Thus, she was there; armored robes, along with a thermal cloak. Lightsaber at her side.
By her side was another sith, wearing a simple red robe not unlike Xyll's in color, who seemed to keep her hood down and her hands in her robes as she followed Xyll toward the rendezouvous.

Jan had come along as well, reasoning it was maybe good to be out of the city for a little while. 'Killsnitches' wasn't a positive sign though, so the Czerka rep keeps a shield firmly tied around one arm with 'Killsnithc repellent' hastily scrawled upon it.((Jo'ren has asked me to swap out Jan with them for this event and I'm happy to
))

Remmington offers a polite bow to the others. "Does everyone have a stimpak? I can lend some out if need be."

In his full battle armour Jo'ren was ready for war. The Massassi had been set up and he was none too pleased about that. He was glad to be fighting alongside these brave warriors, most of whom had been on the winning side of the bar brawl. It was certainly better than being stuck in a room full of politicians. Lieutenant Hin stood over with Ensign Pierce and the other Imperial soldiers.
"Monolith Rem, and I'm good. Don't know for sure, never fought one before." Looking around at the others he figured they were as ready as they could be. Thermal cloaks, stimpacks, lightsabers, armour, Mahr and his axe.
(OOC: Thanks Jan

Tyr greeted Mahr and Remmington by name, and grunted to the others who he wasn't familiar with. He checked the belt pouches over his right hip, and the lightsaber hilt on his left. The cold nipped at his wet nose, drying it out, and he pulled the hood of his cloak up over his ears.
(( \o/ Jo'ren, thanks Jan! ))

Ensign Pierce responded, “Monoliths, native megafauna or some bloody shite, all I know is that they are bloody nasty and normally we try and steer clear of them. Easily more than ten to fifteen meters in height at maturity as fierce as rancors but also capable of expelling energy from their mouths… so there is that.”
“I am calling this a hunt but really your best bet is to try and call in artillery help if possible but… with the recent shuffling of forces we are a bit light on support. So, engage at your own risk, I might be possible to push them deeper into the wilds which seems far safer.”
“Good hunting,” he finished.
OOC: The players will need to succeed on a Survival check, Xenology check, and a Perception check all at Average with a setback for the cold; no single player can make more than a single check and players can assist each other, one player per assist.
Ensign Pierce will be leading his own group, the players are on their own.

Jo'ren and Ashley Hin scanned the area and saw everything that was there to be seen.
"I sense a presence..."
His senses enhanced by the force were able to perceive things that would otherwise be missed.

She looked toward the hooded figure by her side. "Go, assist that one," she nodded toward Tyr, "see what you can find."
The hooded figure, in turn, would nod and silently go over to Tyr and join him in figuring out what was going on. She was not a trained tracker or anything of the sort, but she was quite clever enough to provide the alien with some useful insights.

The team sets out through the snowy wilderness of Ziost, winding through ravines and thick evergreen trees, Jo’ren gets a notice from his people that they have moved in an artillery unit and with a signal they could probably drop a powerful blast but the area better be clear…
Tyr and the apprentice meanwhile find tell-tale signs, there are two monoliths, perhaps a parent with their child a child that is probably eight to eleven meters in height while the primary prey seems to be approaching twenty meters in height.
OOC: Triumph will grant a single artillery shot, this requires a Leadership check at Average, as a combat check and will deal 25 wounds, Breach 1 to all creatures within Short or less of the target.
Tyr suffers strain for the Threat.

After nearly thirty minutes of travel and hunting the team tracks the monolith to a large rocky alcove feasting on several herd animals, in the shadows of the alcove they can see a second even larger monolith lurks while the juvenile feasted on prey animals.
The creatures were huge, one nearly twenty meters tall and the other just under fourteen meters in height.
OOC: With the Triumph the group can begin combat at Medium range instead of Long. Cool for Initiative if they decide to engage. If you have a cunning plan do let me know, otherwise... good luck.

Remmington nods at the plan that is agreed to. He looks over at Xyll's companion but has absolutely no idea who they are. He readies himself to move in once the action begins.
