Infection Investigation (D4, EM Archives)

[Sylvain Torsin]

Sylvain found himself in the archives early in the morning attempting to locate any information on the earliest records of the disease in the Outer Rim. The archives were likely tampered with in some way... but finding anything would help get the process going one way or another.

Failure, but perhaps 2 advantage to have some kind of droid or clerk available to help in the search? Or some other fortuitous change in circumstances?

[Dapper Dog]

Not much luck was had a but a clerk approached and said, "My Lord have you found everything you are looking for?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He shook his head, "I'm afraid not. I'm looking for the earliest references to an illness currently extant in parts of the Outer Rim."

[Dapper Dog]

"Well surely such a thing should be documented, does it have a name or designation?" he responded.

[Sylvain Torsin]

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "It does. Infection Vector 347-HX3."

[Dapper Dog]

The clerk used that information and checked his datapad and then came up with what Sylvain probably already knew that it seemed to start in the region of space around Zygeria relatively recently.

He handed the information over.

He nodded and took the information, thanking the man for his help.

He walked out of the tower and towards his ship. Once aboard he dialed up his friend Tyron on Zygerria on the protected Torsin line set up by his father and waited for a response.

[Dapper Dog]

"Master Torsin, how may I be of service," he replied.

[Sylvain Torsin]

"I'm going to need you to start looking into something for me dear friend." He replied pensively.

"It appears that the plague was not a random occurrence. That in itself is not too shocking considering the state of the galaxy at the moment... But I need to know who and how it was engineered. The archives here on Ziost unexpectedly yielded very little useful information. I have data on the chemical makeup of the plague and have a team of top researchers working on a cure... But finding out who is behind the creation of this disease will both help aid their efforts and reveal the scale of the problem that we are facing. Teach us whose aims are set against our own." He replied.

[Dapper Dog]

"Just to be certain you want me to look into what exactly," he responded.

"Obviously not the cure, but how it came to Zygeria?"

[Sylvain Torsin]

He nodded, "See where you first can find reports of its existence. We need leads that bring us back to its origin. The cure is something you need not worry yourself with... I simply want to know where it came from. And hopefully from there we can find who engineered it."

[Dapper Dog]

"As-" the line goes dead and the communicator has lost signal.


He hears footsteps approaching him and a calm voice speaks, "Lord Modrax, it is a pleasure."

"Watcher Five, Imperial Intelligence."

[Sylvain Torsin]

He was taken slightly by surprised at the sudden cut of transmission but turned and looked at the newcomer calmly, "It has been a while Watcher Five. To what do I owe the pleasure?"

[Dapper Dog]

“The situation with the infection vector is being handled, we suspect it is another Eagle plot but the situation must be handled carefully. Who all knows about this fact that it was engineered? They will need to be interviewed and reassured that there is nothing to be concerned with,” he said calmly.

“We want to head off any chance of civil unrest or public endangerment.”

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Those who have this information are of no risk to the public. And you'll excuse me if your explanation gives me a moment of pause Watcher Five. The last time I followed your advice it cost my wife her leg needlessly." He replied.

"When you say the infection is 'being handled' what is it that you mean precisely? I've seen little support from Imperial Intelligence or any other institution for quite some time."

[Dapper Dog]

“Imperial Intelligence will determine who is or is not a threat to the Empire, Lord Modrax. I cannot coerce you to give up your sources but withholding such information will not reflect well on your record,” he replied calmly.

“I do not give advice only Intelligence, it was not flawed intelligence for the scope of that mission.”

“Also, irrelevant, your feeling or opinion does not factor into the assessment. This operation is classified, I cannot divulge information on an ongoing investigation, but rest assured the situation is under control.”

[Sylvain Torsin]

"Your intelligence was as flawed then as it is now. Your intelligence on me and my associates was wrong then and appear to be wrong now. If you had instructed us on the pertinent information then, the objective would have been accomplished without complication. And if you would inform someone like me of the pertinent information on this current subject... who, despite any analyses you think you have on me, is fully invested in the defense of the Empire and solving this issue with all promptness... you would have a chance of actually taking hold of this situation rather than merely deceiving yourself into thinking you do. If you believe it to be my 'opinion' and that the current situation is 'under control' then you seem to have need of a refresher course in basic economics and strategy. This plague weakens the Empire every day it lingers." He replied.

"If, however, you find a way to get me clearance on this investigation and include me on the pertinent details of the situation, you will have a resourceful and motivated ally in ensuring the investigation's success. You will have my list of associates and my complete cooperation in the removal of this plague. I do not think this to be a bad offer unless you are serving as a tool to a party who would prefer to obfuscate their own role in the creation and expansion of this plague, or are intent on the continuation of the plague despite the long-lasting damage it will do to the Empire." His voice remained cool and collected throughout even at the more critical junctures.

Watcher Five lists off everyone Sylvain has been in contact with about the plague and then added, “You are told what you need to know to accomplish the mission. I am not sure if you are trying to berate me but I am not moved nor do I need to be.”

“This is a courtesy, not a request.”

“If you continue then you may be putting yourself, your wife, and children in jeopardy. Let this go and trust in the Emperor. We can see ourselves out, if you have nothings else. Tell your colleagues we will be in touch and if they value their standing they should cooperate.”

OOC: Pretty impossible to affect Watcher Five, he is like a human robot, let’s assume 3 red and 2 purple with a setback he is conditioned to resist the Force so it will not affect him.
