Another message that seemed strange, even more time wasted pursuing leads going nowhere. Shaisha stretched lazily and walked away from her computer for now; there was still plenty of time until the Emperor's arrival.
Though it was time to check how Vowrawn's
illustrious grand-nephew was holding up, or if he was getting himself into to some trouble. And if he was anything like her master, it would be pretty trouble on two legs.
Hitting the communicator, she rang up Varn.

“Lord Tenebrous, good afternoon I was just training. I am honored you reached out to me,” he said calmly taking a military stance with his arms crossed in front of him.

"Good afternoon, Varn," she spoke in a pleasant tone in return. "Just checking to see how you're doing, that the whirlwind of politics that's coming has not swept you away yet."

"I have been well my Lord, I have been training and working to better my skills to better serve my honored Uncle. I hope I have not done anything to warrant concern," he said politely.

"Merely idle concern, since your honored uncle has put the responsibility of your well-being on my shoulders for the time being. Though I have trust in your abilities as a graduate of the Academy to have the skill to deal with most trouble that might come your way," she gave him a knowing smirk, "the trouble you can't, well, I want you to know that you are free to contact me if you believe yourself to be in over your head."

“I am pleased, thank you, it has been a long road and the Academy was a dangerous place… so much backstabbing and violence. It was disconcerting, but I am pleased that Honored Uncle has brought you in to aid me,” he said confidently.
“Is there anything that you are aware of I should steer clear of?”

Her lips pursed in a thoughtful expression for a mere moment as she looked into the distance. "Not getting involved in one of Baras' schemes goes without saying, though don't be surprised if you find yourself involved in one without knowing. That man has his fingers in all the pies, and the cakes as well."
Mm cake. She hoped there would be cake tonight.
"As for anything else... try to steer clear of the aspirants aiming for the council seats. While I trust the good judgement of some of them, like Kristal Serasai, the rest might try to pull you into something ridiculous at best, or at worse just kill you because Vowrawn is a potential rival."

He frowned and said, “I will be mindful of such games. It is unfortunate that we Sith cannot engage in politics without undue murder and violence, it weakens us immensely.”

"All too true, hence why I am making my bid for the council. With the exception of my master and your honored uncle, who actually knows how to enjoy life, everyone else there is a useless old fool who can't see past their own schemes or cloak-and-dagger plots," Shaisha rolled her eyes dramatically.
"Politics can be such a bore, but resulting to murder because of it isn't really going to lead anywhere."

Varn listened to that and said, “Didn’t you just warn me about associating with those competing for the dark Council seat? Though if my Honored Uncle has found you worthy then I will be honored to bow to you, Lord Tenebrous.”

"Ah, but I am not like the others, I assure you," she said in her nicest purr. "You can trust in me, and your honored uncle."
As much as Sith could trust, that was.
"Are you planning on going to Tayana's salon tonight?"

"I had planned on it, unless you feel otherwise," he said calmly.

She held up a hand. "By all means, you're young and I won't tell you to not to go out and have fun when the opportunities arise. Keep in mind to be on your guard while you mingle - and do not try to match your uncle when it comes to drinking."
She paused for a few seconds. "... Don't think most beings in the galaxy could match him in drinking."

He smiled briefly and then said, “I would not try that, I actually do not imbibe. I prefer to keep my mind keen and sharp. I will make an appearance then, and attempt to not embarrass my honored uncle, or you, Lord Tenebrous.”

"Clever man," she chuckled. Nothing wrong with choosing not to drink in the company of vipers. "And I have faith that you'll do fine. That will be all, Varn, unless there is anything you wish to ask of me?"

“I have nothing my Lord, may the Force make you Strong,” he said respectfully.

"And you, Varn," she responded in kind with an almost motherly affection, and ended the call.
Well then. The boy showed more promise than she had expected. Was she that level-headed fresh out of the academy? In some ways, he reminded her of Kristal.
