[Day 11, LA] Paying a Visit

[Xal Kimlya]

"Valuable knowledge that could be applied in countless ways." he agreed.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods. "Plus it will be a good opportunity for me to see Sith alchemy up close and in use. Then perhaps I may be able to incorporate it into future designs myself."

He thinks about something. "If this was your project Xal, what do you think you will do to improve on this design? Or how will you design it?"

[Xal Kimlya]

"I'm not an engineer." he shook his head. "I suppose I'd start with the materials and component. What would the power source be? What alloys would I use? What attributes would I focus on?"

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Power supply huh? That seems pretty standard... wait. As as alchemist, is it possible to use an bio-organic power supply instead of a standard mechanical energy source?" Remmington asks.

[Xal Kimlya]

"Perhaps. I'm not sure it would be better, though." he shook his head. "The energy output would be limited."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"That's true. I wonder if it is possible to make some sort of bio-organic metal?" Remmington ponders.

[Xal Kimlya]

"If it is, it isn't something I've not heard of." he admitted. "That would require extensive research and development, if we had something to start with."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"I heard that the monoliths are a product of Sith alchemy. Do you know anything about that? Maybe there is a way to coat the bones or hide with metal or something." Remmington questions.

[Xal Kimlya]

"Maybe. If I study them, I could give you a better idea." he suggested.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods and decides to change the topic a little. "Out of curiousity. Did you create your droid or was that an acquisition from somewhere?"

[Xal Kimlya]

"My parents." he answered. "My father specifically, but my mother consulted on aspects of the design. GR8-1 has done some of its own customization, as well."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"It's customized itself?" Remmington asks surprised.

"Is that purely cosmetic? I assume that you didn't allow her to change her programming, power source, or weaponry did you?" Then he pauses.

"Well I guess weaponry isn't a problem."

[Xal Kimlya]

"Primarily cosmetic." he nodded. "Obvioisly, there are certain things it would be incapable of modifying on its own. But, it is very skilled and resourceful."

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods. "That is still pretty interesting. I wonder where a droid gets its sense of aesthetics from."

[Xal Kimlya]

"Through observation, I would assume." he shrugged. "Its primary function is research."

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington ponders something. "Does your droid ever make useful recommendations for your research?"

[Xal Kimlya]

"Where it can." he nodded. "There are limits to where pure knowledge can lead you without the Force to guide you. With alchemy, at least."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Do you delve into the Force like seers do in order to gain insight on where to proceed or for clarity on your alchemy experiments?

I wonder if the same can be done with mechanics. Though it seems a bit.... sacrilegious maybe?" Remmington asks curiously.

[Xal Kimlya]

"To some extent, yes." he nodded. "The Force guides me as I seek the knowledge and apply the skills for my crafts. It is not unlike crafting one's lightsaber."

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods. "Hmm... good point there. I wonder why Force enhanced starfighters are not a thing."
