Lucinia shook her head firmly, blonde hair scattering. "No... certainly not. I saw him when he arrived. I could feel his immense power even from a distance." She pursed her lips. "If it comes to that... I do not shy from a challenge, but I see nothing wrong with being sure that I am the equal of a challenge."

"Not all challenges need be conquered," she said dryly and then coughed several times in succession.

"Of course." Lucinia inclined her head. "Ah, I brought you a bottle of a Malveaux red. Perhaps a glass of that will set you right."

She stepped back, opening the door again. "Do let me know if there's anything I can do." Lucinia smiled. "As an exchange, of course. Don't worry, I'm not going sentimental."
