Day 10 EM: Planning forward

[Mahr]

Mahr was restless, pacing around the compound with an air of don't fuck with me. His thoughts were torn between rage, zeal and duty.

He had hoped the person he called to meet him could help him.

[Dapper Dog]

Giyanzi arrived and said, “Mahr, why so agitated this morning?”

[Mahr]

Mahr frowns but calms down at her arrival.

"COME WITH MAHR, WE WILL TALK UP THERE" he said pointing to a nearby empty watch tower overlooking the camp and the icy wastes.

He was silent as they climbed up

"MAHR DOES NOT LIKE THE NEW EMPRESS'S GROUP." he began when he was sure they were alone

"MAHR DOES NOT LIKE THE WITCH'S DOGMA ABOUT THE UMBRELLA DARK...OR WHATEVER THEY CALL IT. WE HAVE OUR OWN WAYS AND MAHR WANTS TO KEEP IT THAT WAY...BUT MAHR IS NOT SURE HOW."

[Dapper Dog]

Giyanzi nodded and said, “Perhaps we can find a way to blend the ideas you approve of with our traditions. These changes are coming and will continue to escalate as we integrate more into Imperial society, the massassi must see this.”

“What do you need from me?”

There was a low growl coming from the warrior

''WHAT WILL WE BE THEN?'' he asked ''THE QUEEN...'' he paused as if struck by something ''...THE RED QUEEN, THE GREAT QUEEN, DIED FOR US, TO SAVE OUR PEOPLE FROM THE DARKNESS THAT TOOK OUR MINDS.''

He looked at the frozen wastes ahead

''BUT FOR WHAT? THAT WE LOSE WHAT MAKES US MASSASSI? THAT WE LET OURSELVES BE MOLDED TO THE WHIMS OF THE EMPIRE AND ITS RULERS TO BECOME PRIVILEDGED CANNON FODDER?''

the growl stops as he turns to the new queen

''THE MASSASSI MUST NOT ONLY SURVIVE: THE MASSASSI MUST TRIVE...AND FOR THIS WE NEED TO KEEP OUR WAYS. MAHR KNOWS GIYANZI IS SMARTER THEN HE...MAHR WANTS TO KNOW HOW WE CAN DO THIS FOR MAHR IS AFRAID THE MASSASSI WILL LOSE THEMSELVES IF MASSASSI INTEGRATE TOO MUCH.''

Giyanzi considered that and said, "I will need to consider that but perhaps one of us should get involved with this regime to better represent our people."

[Mahr]

Mahr did not like the idea...but he knew she was right for attack was always better then defense.

''MAHR KNOWS A FEW PEOPLE...MAYBE MAHR CAN TRY?'' he scratched his chin ''IMPERIAL CULTURE IS WEAK SO MAHR COULD GO THERE AND SPREAD MASSASSI CULTURE LIKE HE WANTED...''

Giyanzi offered her support, “You have a passion for the traditions that is genuine and conveyed well, they would be foolish to not accept you. I will do what needs to be done behind the scenes to push forward your position.”

“We work together as always.”

[Mahr]

As always?

Mahr tilted his head but ended up nodding

''MAHR CAN TAKE SPOTLIGHT FOR HE CAN THOUGH OUT A KNIFE OR TWO IN HIS BACK. DARTH TAYANA KNOWS MAHR...MAYBE SHE COULD BE AN ALLY.''

[Dapper Dog]

She placed a hand on his shoulder, “That sounds like a strong partnership and she seems fond of you from what I am told. We can utilize that to better share our ways with the Empire, I can analyze what we can meld that will not diminish our identity as massassi.”

[Mahr]

The champion took a heavy breath

''VERY WELL MY QUEEN'' there was a twitch in his brow as he said these words. She was one, for sure, but he could not help feeling like this title could ever belong to another.

[Dapper Dog]

Giyanzi replied, “As our Red Queen wished it, I am ever by your side, my King.”

[Mahr]

The King took her hand into his own and gave a simple nod of understanding as the northern wind picked up speed.
