[Pre-Game - LE] All the Emperor's Men

[Investigator Walber]

The street was cleared by the security droids, citizens knew better than to linger around a crime scene… or a burgeoning crime scene anyways. Walber took a sip from his flask while sitting in has patrol speeder and then got tucked it into his jacket. Same crap, different day… what day was it anyway?

He frowned and got out of the patrol speeder approaching a covered body in the street surrounded by holo-security tape. He knelt down and put on some gloves and looked under the sheet and said to the security officer, “What do we know?”

The young man frowned and said, “Noble, Lady Jaina Yusif, looks like a hit and run. What the hell is a noble scion doing in this part of town?”

Walber looked at the cooling corpse and the blaster marks. He looked at the low rent housing and cheap stores and agreed that this wasn’t the typical place to slum. He replied, “Emperor’s balls, her family is going to be out for blood.”

He rose to his full height and then brought up a holo map of the region on his Datapad and looked at the region. Murder was not uncommon despite what the News portrayed but a Noble murder… yeah this was trouble he didn’t want.

[Rowan Camwen]

Apparently completely unaware, Rowan stumbled out of one of said cheap stores, taking in the scene moment with a slow look of shock.

This is not a good way to end the day.

There was a morbid sense of curiosity about it however, much like a speeder wreck. He couldn't quite turn away, having not seen such displays commonly. He paused a moment to observe in silence, while trying to remember which way led back to his temporary apartment.

[Investigator Walber]

Walber lit up and let out a deep drag and then seeing someone new on the scene approached. Once he was within talking distance he said mechanically, “Investigator Walber, Public Security. Citizen, I would have your name and proof of identification.”

[Rowan Camwen]

Rowan cautiously held up both hands, palms out, and nods.

"Of course, of course!"

A comedic display of nerves followed as he fetched his identification.

"Rowan Camwen, of house Camwen. First time on Ziost. Was checking out the local merchants and sights!"

He handed over his identification, showing his residence being in Kaas City, Dromund Kaas.

"Didn't quite expect this kind of sight, however!"

[Investigator Walber]

Another noble…. Walber handed back the identification and said, “Of course, my lord. Hopefully this won’t… ruin your shopping venture.”

He tried his best to sound personable but it was tired and not earnest, more rote and without feeling.

“Just a minor incident, to be sure.”

[Rowan Camwen]

There was a brief smile across Rowan's face. Was it to reassure, to console, apologetic? Or was he just that clueless?

"Oh, certainly not."

He glanced past the investigator to the scene, his demeanor shifting more somber.

"It's been a bit since I pursued any investigative career options, but generally, I'm curious you'd consider a scene involving a body under a sheet, as a minor one."

[Dapper Dog]

Walber took another drag and said in what he considered a reassuring tone, again lacking any real warmth, “This situation is well in hand my…”

He never finished as both were knocked off their feet by an explosive blast. The impact knocking the air from their lungs, showering the street with transpara-steel shards and twisted metal strewn about…

There is a ringing in the ears when consciousness is regained.

[Rowan Camwen]

His eyes blinked several times as he struggled to regain his senses.

No amount of education can prepare you for a possible concussion.

He slowly picked himself up off the ground, a slight trickle of blood from his mouth pouring onto the surface. His eyes darted around, first looking for Walber, and then any sign of the explosion source or any other victims, trying to note the changes in the crime scene that had just likely escalated to a major incident, at least.

He didn't bother trying to speak immediately, as he could barely hear his own thoughts at the moment.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington is heading towards the People's Tower to get a look at it up close and also use this chance to stretch his legs a big after a long hyperdrive trip to get here. He is nearby when he hears an explosion and decides to head towards it to see what is going on.

Seeing a couple of Imperial citizens on the ground he goes to help. "Are you okay? What happened here?" He asks as he offers them a helping hand.

[Dapper Dog]

They are bloodied but okay, some stores are now burning wrecks of metal and debris is strewn about the road. It is a mess.

The Investigator is pinned under debris, the remnants of a speeder and a wall but he is alive.

[Mahr]

There was a roar comming from one of the building nearby and it's source came into view when a shop door twisted by the explosion was ripped of its hinges.

A very angry massassi came out, looking for what caused the trouble.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington looks at the sudden appearance of the Massassi and is a little puzzled from where it came from but switches his attention back to the investigator.

"Just a moment. I will help you out of there." He goes to help free the investigator from the rubble. If his strength alone is not enough he will look for something solid to use as leverage.

[Rowan Camwen]

Analyzing the scene, Rowan notes the distraction caused by the Massassi, and that the investigator is being assisted. He activates a camera drone and tosses it into a flight pattern around the area to survey the scene.

He then slowly approaches the investigator and offers assistance to clear the debris.

[Investigator Walber]

Investigator Walber is freed and he said, “Well kriff, this is probably not a minor incident after all.”

He then added to Remmington, “My Lord, you have my thanks.”

[Rowan Camwen]

Rowan continues a cautious eye towards the unfolding scene, glancing over at Walber.

"I feel like this is not likely to be coincidental."

His eyes look to where the victim was previously placed, curious if the scene was in any form intact.

[Dapper Dog]

Walber frowned as he looked to the body and found only a charred mess. The eyes are drawn to the destruction and in the high rise buildings they can make out a shape in the destruction a stylized raptor or bird like image of fire burning within the buildings.

A gaping hole of fiery debris and mangled metal and slag.

[Mahr]

Mahr's eye drew to the symbol of flame. He growled in recognition then spat on the ground.

''I'LL UNFEATHER YOU AND ROAST YOU LIKE A CHICKEN''

He snickered before turning and moving towards the small group who seemed to be mostly looking at things rather then doing anything

''WHERE ARE THE ATTACKERS?''

[Rowan Camwen]

Rowan looked down at his datapad to see if anything else may have been captured by the camera drone. There was a slight flinch at the sudden roaring.

"They seem to have eluded us for the time being but I'm sure a search is underway."

He assumed any attackers escaped during the aftermath, but a second look was not going to hurt.

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods to the investigator. "No worries. The Imperial military always has its hands full keeping the citizens and Empire safe. This is the least that I can do."

He looks at the stylized burning bird. "Terrorists..." He mutters with some disdain. He nods at the noble's summary. "You are probably correct. Probably set to blow or they could have remote detonated it from a distance. Probably best if we look at the wreckage of the bomb to get clues as well." He looks back down at the body.

Then he puts a hand over his chest in a salute and offers a bow to the group. "My apologies for the late introduction. Remmington Thalalas, disciple of Lord Daizo."

[Investigator Walber]

Walber lit up another stick and took a deep drag and said, “So we have a murdered noble woman and then an attack by the Eagle… I mean dissidents.”

Security forces were beginning to flood the area.
