[EA3 - Xal's Lab] Not Doing a Sing-A-Long Blog

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington is sightseeing the People's Tower again for a little bit before he sets off on his own to visit Xal. The good doctor's lab should be close by so he figures that this is a good as time as anyways. While he is walking he views his datapad and sees wanted picture of Lord Tenebrous. He presses buttons at a furious speed and decodes the message by the time that he arrives at the lab.

He knocks at the door to make himself know. "Good afternoon. It is Remmington Thalalas. I have come to visit." He announces.


/ Decrypting coded message. Computers/Int = 4 Success, 1 Threat

[Xal Kimlya]

A droid opened the door and studied Remmington for a moment.


"You're looking for Xal? He's in his lab, follow me."

It led him through a spacious apartment and up to a second level, where comforting furnishings gave way to a more sterile laboratory environment. The arkanian was looking over a monitor filled with data. As he noticed Remmington enter, he closed the data file off and turned to greet him.

"Welcome. It's nice to see you again."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Good to see you as well Sith Kimlya. Doctor? Hmm... I am not sure what to refer to you as." Remmington ponders that for a moment.

"Though thank you again for having me. This certainly is a nice laboratory. I am really too used to working in garages and space ports. This has a charm in and of itself."

[Xal Kimlya]

"Xal is fine." he answered. "I'm not one for titles or formalities. They take too much time."

"There are better labs." he looked around. "But, this one suits my needs and allows me more flexibility. I'm sure there are some who would think this small. We each have different preferences, I suppose."

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods. "Xal it is then. Please call me Rem, Remmy, or whatever you feel like. Well as long as it works for you then I think there is nothing wrong with that. Whatever helps you work the best."

[Xal Kimlya]

"Tell me about your work, Remmy." he requested. "I'm curious."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Well I deal mostly with machinery and computers myself. Currently I am working on a design for a new hyperdrive engine. I am still working out the details of it. I think I may have a good idea once I test out some simulations. I can show you my schematic once I draw up a working prototype." Remmington comments.

[Xal Kimlya]

"It's certainly not my field, but I would be interested." he nodded. "Is it for a ship of your own?"

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington nods. "That is correct. Though I do want to make a mass production model in the future. So I will be aiming to make the product cheaper and easier to make."

[Xal Kimlya]

"That is a significant undertaking." he nodded again. "I am not quite that ambitious, yet. I do hope to develop some level of permanency with the potions I craft, but that will take time."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Ah that sounds like a grand undertaking Xal. I do not know much about alchemy but it sounds like a difficult challenge. How long to potions last usually? Do they lose their potency over time?" Remmington asks with genuine curiosity.

[Xal Kimlya]

"The effects can be very brief, especially physical enhancements." he explained. "Potency can last for quite some time, however, if it is crafted and stored properly."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"How are these potions taken? Orally I assume? Or can they be absorbed through the skin? Injected directly into the bloodstream?" Remmington asks.

[Xal Kimlya]

"Most are orally. " he nodded. "Some may be applied in other ways. There are talismans too, of course, which are simply carried."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"I remember seeing Mandalorians with some kind of stimpak auto-injector system built into their armour. So I thought you may have been doing something similar." Remmington comments and then something that Xal says really catches his attention.

"Talismans? How do those work? How effective are they?" He asks.

[Xal Kimlya]

"It varies." he shrugged. "Some are long lasting, protecting you from adverse environments. Others offer a brief surge of power or momentary protection from an attack."

[Remmington Thalalas]

"Are any of those permanent? How do they work? Do they require the Force or some kind of power source?" Remmington asks with much interest.

[Xal Kimlya]

"The Force is used to craft them, just as with the potions." he explained. "Some can potentially be permanent. But, many break down with use."

[Remmington Thalalas]

Remmington ponders what he is told. "Well that certainly is interesting. I do wish to see what you have though maybe later. I do not think I can help much in that category aside from offering my opinion. Or making a holo simulation program that you may use to test out formula before wasting materials into them.

Is there anything else that has your interest?"


/ Sorry, I don't actually know how the mechanics for that works. I don't think I have that book where alchemy potions are listed.

[Xal Kimlya]

"Some of my projects have dealt with medicine, xenology and other sciences, as well." he explained. "Genetic research and bio-modification are of interest, though not currently a focus."
